Muladhara Chakra

Posted on August 25, 2015

The first chakra is called Muladhara, which means “foundation”. This chakra is located at the coccyx, the base of the spine, in the region between the genitals and the anus.

This chakra is related to the element of earth, to the aspects of food and shelter, to the sense of smell and the nose. The chakra has four petals, and corresponds to the instinctive center of the human machine.

The psychological defect that blocks Muladhara is greed. The reflection for this chakra is “to be is better than to exist”.

Meditating on this chakra, vocalize the vowel SSSS as a hissing sound, and the mantra DIS DAS DOS. Use this to energize this chakra and to investigate greed within your psychology.
